Future Focus Day
On 25th of November a group of career people from different job's came to show The year eights what its like to have a job like theirs, I went around to nearly all of the 14 places, in some of then you created, made, dug, learnt, and explored new things, one of my personal favorites was hitting the target with the fire hose.

A photo of me making a cookie, I found out that a lady served for 1,000 people in one day.

Sapphire's and I results.

Hitting down the target, found out that one of the mans scariest moment was going up Te-mata Peak.

Me in the military, found out that the man on the right scariest moment was when a man he didn't know just came up and yelled at him.

One of my friends on the digger, she pulled out a record of 6 drink bottles.

Nepia Social Dancing

Nepia House has been learning many dances for the end of the year social, right now were FANTASTIC.

My Community Organisation Poster

In class we needed to investigate an organisation for depressed people, and then create it into a poster, this is my results.

Short story

Walt:  create a descriptive passage using a range of suitable adjectives and adverbs to create an image in the reader’s mind.

Idea Details
Young man driving drunk.
*He gets drunk and drives with his mate.
*He slowly realises he has pushed more and more down in the accelerator.
*All he heard was sirens.
*He knew then that he had stuffed up!
*He felt drops of blood rolling down his skin
*He feels unsafe and scared he sees a stream of two colours going down his face, one crystal blue, other rose red.
*The metal pole destroyed the right side of the car, windows were shattered everywhere, the doors were in ruins, there was no room to move.
Ideas
Details Walt: build up our character by adding character traits.
Character traits
(18 year old)
Determined to go out with his mates.
Staggering everywhere
Disobedient

Now put these together into a paragraph.

All I could hear was music, it was pounding from every corner of the room. It made my glass shatter onto the floor leaving it in a million pieces.
I looked up to see myself in the mirror and thought, “What am I doing here?”

After sitting there ignoring myself I rapidly stepped outside, a breath of fresh air rushes into my face and down my back.
Staring into the distance I saw one of my old friends Josh, we grew up with each other from our childhood days, everything was perfect, then one day his family moved away.
With me being a six year old, it felt like I was being abandoned, we never thought we would meet again...

Time went past so fast it felt like we were talking for months, memories kept coming back to me while we gossiped away. For the first time in a long time I felt happy,

My shadow suddenly got stamped upon by moving bodies in a rush. Nick forced me towards the car, my head was spinning and my body was slowly collapsing.
The keys got shoved into my hand, He screamed “GO!” I slammed my foot down, unsure what was happening.
The was car screaming, sliding, scretching everywhere, barely on the road. My body was tossed everywhere, it was nuts!
The car come to a heavy stop…

I gently opened my eyes, finding my leg covered by a pole, I looked around, everything was destroyed, glass broken and the doors were squashed together, there was no way out, behind me was unconscious bodies fading away, i twisted my head finding a crack in the door I took a peek but all I could see was smoke, my head started spinning, I went to reach for my head, I could feel something…

I pulled my hand down to find it wrapped in blood, tears started rolling down my skin, I screamed for help, but it was useless, I stopped, I gave up, just then my eyes rolled down covering my eyes…
Farewell world...

Proverbs

The meaning for this is like…
When a graceful person associates with bad influence, they turn into someone different, from what the other person has told and done with them.

The person thinks they should follow another path, so that person changes their actions and style, they may look the same as before but there heart and mind grows on a different path than it did before. Screenshot 2015-09-23 at 10.19.44 AM.png

Science

CONVECTION is the movement of the energy,
"More Dense, cooler, heavier types of particles are closer together, when it is in contact with a heated particle it will force it up into the air.
"Less Dense, warmer, lighter types of particles are further apart witch are more 'Energetic' and that makes it rise when it is pulling against the cold pressure.

Metaphors

Metaphors No 2
A metaphor is a word that says one thing is another.  It is used to help a reader visualise an object or a person., but is more direct that the simile and does not include the words ‘like’ or ‘as.’
An example:  You are a donkey.    which means that the person is behaving similar to a donkey so they are being very stubborn.
The trees marched along the hillside.   This means the pattern that the trees create across the hillside which looks similar to soldiers marching in formation.

A  Make a Metaphor
  1. Complete the metaphor by joining the two halves together.
The road is sequins.
She is angry wasp.
Glow-worms are a dragon.
Our coach is a ribbon.
He was an a busy bee.

2.   Imaginative Metaphors
Complete each sentence in an imaginative way by using a metaphor.  One is done for you.
  1. The pool is a  mirror reflecting the forest.
  2. The clouds… a soft pillow
  3. A tuatara… is a living dinosaur
  4. An old face… is an old memory

C.  ‘Metaphor Poem
Poems use metaphors as well as similes.  Underline the metaphors in this verse from the poem by Gwenda McKay.
When I walk outside I play a game.
Of matching things-not-quite-the-same.

A tree is a green umbrella.
It shelters me from rain.
Rain puddles are my mirrors.
I see myself again.
Worms are living rubber bands.
The wriggle pinkly on my hands.
The moon’s a golden ball hanging high.
In the darkness in the sky.

It teases me to make a link…
I sometimes have to think and think.

D.  Now:

You are going to find 3 metaphors in song lyrics of your own choice.

Make sure that you add the lyrics and the URL for the songs.

Music- music is like the beach
Bent tree- My broken umbrella is like a bent tree
Broken down car- A broken down car is a dead engine
